Supporting local communities

Auswide Bank supports grass roots initiatives in local communities by developing and maintaining strong relationships and investments that contribute to the community. This is achieved by developing and supporting vulnerable community members with access to suitable and affordable financial services through:

  • Regional community programs assisted by our branch network
  • Workplace giving
  • Disaster relief support

In line with our community-focused ethos, we run a number of own own events and activities that raise money for charity or support cultural activities in our community. Our sponsorship program is not about generating a commercial return, it is about being authentic in our aim to give a helping hand where it is needed.

Supporting sporting superstar, Meg Harris

We're partnering with Project32 and through them, supporting sporting superstar, Meg Harris, as she follows her Olympic dream.

Through Project32, an athlete and partnership development program, we’ll be sponsoring freestyle swimmer, Meg Harris, who made her debut at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo where she won gold in the Women’s 4 x 100m freestyle relay – even beating the world record time.

Our sponsorship of Meg will give her the essential financial support she needs to focus on her sporting career and athletic development as she continues to chase her Olympic dreams.

We’ll also be supporting Meg through professional mentorship and coaching as she continues her nursing degree, preparing for a career after swimming.

Baking a difference at Ronald McDonald House Charities

Across the past three years, Auswide Bank has proudly supported the children and families staying at Ronald McDonald House Charities in Brisbane through our regular baking days. When families are spending long, emotional days in hospital caring for a seriously ill child, everyday tasks like planning and preparing meals can quickly become overwhelming. Our baking days aim to provide a small but meaningful source of comfort during an incredibly challenging time.

During the year, our team prepare a range of homemade sweet and savoury goods for families staying at the facility, many of whom have travelled from all over Queensland to access specialised medical care. These baking days are about more than food, and aim to help families feel supported while they focus on their child’s health and wellbeing. It’s a hands-on way for our team to give back and strengthen the communities we’re proud to be part of.

Ronald McDonald House Charities Toy Drive

Each year, our team and wider community come together to support the Ronald McDonald House Charities Toy Drive, helping to bring moments of joy to children and families at Christmas during some of their most challenging times. The toy drive is one of the ways we support families staying at Ronald McDonald Houses in South East Queensland and North Australia, where a simple gift can offer comfort, distraction and a sense of normality for children facing long hospital stays.

Over the past three years, this initiative has become a meaningful part of our community support efforts and is a reminder that even small acts of generosity can make a lasting difference.
