SMS Secure Authentication Required

Help - SMS Authentication Required

This screen will appear if your payment triggered SMS Secure. This is an important security step to help protect you against internet fraud.

What Triggers SMS Secure?

  • changing/resetting your access code
  • viewing/editing your profile, including limit changes
  • stopping, cancelling or activating your card
  • processing Batch Pay
  • the first payment to a new BSB & Account number (Payee)
  • the first payment to an existing Payee since registering for SMS Secure

Once a payee has been 'trusted' (that is, authenticated by SMS) then you will not get an SMS the next time you make a payment to that payee.

What Happens When SMS Secure Is Triggered?

  1. the SMS Authentication Required screen will appear
  2. a SMS text message is sent to your mobile with a six digit Authentication Code.

If the details of the payment in the SMS are correct, enter the Authentication Code from the SMS and press Submit to confirm your paction and proceed.

Cancel

If the details of the action in the SMS are incorrect, press Cancel. This will stop the action altogether and return you to the previous screen

How SMS Secure Protects You

If you were to receive an SMS regarding an action you have not instigated, for example, a payment that you had not created, to an unknown BSB and Account Number, you should change your access code immediately and contact us on 1300 138 831 (Mon-Fri 7am-7pm, excluding Public Holidays), as it may mean that your Internet Banking Security has been breached.

The suspect action can not be processed without entering the Authorisation Code from the SMS message, so no money could be transferred from your account to an unknown BSB and Account Number without your knowledge.

To register for SMS Secure please contact your local branch or send us a secure email and we will arrange to activate this service for you.
